Equilibrium Dynamics
is a new charitable corporation looking for people who
share our mission to enable underserved groups to build
successful lives and communities. We approach this by
teaching how to use feelings to empower – rather than
sabotage – careers, relationships and recurring issues
in everyday life. If you value these same goals, we
invite you to add us to your list of favorite charities.
Our workshops and seminars teach our students the
principles and skills of managing feelings, both
internally and in relationships. This requires
coordinating feelings with thinking, judgment and
actions. Without such workshops many minority and low
income students of all ages would not have access to
these techniques and training in emotional competence
known to improve the likelihood of success. In fact,
almost every public high school student at one of our
recent workshops reported in questionnaires that “some”
or “all” of the information we taught was new and
helpful to them. Frequently, we also receive
unsolicited feedback about the positive impact of our
workshops. One man sent us this particularly inspiring
email this summer:
"My name is [‘Tong’] and I had
talked to you at the recent seminar that you held [for
exam anxiety]. I wanted to thank you so much for all
your help, with helping me find out why I was not able
to do well on the [exam, despite doing well on practice
tests]. It really helped to sit down and express my
feelings with you. Later that day, I went home and let
the tears just pour out. I also wrote in my journal, [as
trained,] expressing my fears and coming up with another
career that I could see myself doing [if I was not able
to do well on this retake]. I just took the real [exam]
this Saturday, and I would have to say that I feel very
good about it. I took it off the pedestal, and 1saw it as
just another day. Knowing that if I didn't do well on
this exam, [it] didn't mean the end of my life, really
helped. I would be just as content [doing another
career], and I know that my family would just be as
proud of me, as long as I succeeded in something. I owe
all of this to you. Thank you so much. Hope to see you
again."
Positive results like these motivate us to
reach more students, more regularly. However, to do
that, Equilibrium Dynamics needs philanthropic
contributions, large and small. We would love you to
consider such a financial gift if you would like to
invest in our underserved communities through us. We
promise our “best performance,” including careful
spending. If you have any questions or ideas, or would
like to meet or talk with me, please give me a call at

contact@EquiD.org.
Yours sincerely,
Loma K. Flowers, MD,
President
